The Importance of Contributions

The Herbie Fund main contributor is Sick Kids Hospitals who holds a partnership with them. Sick Kids Hospitals aids the Herbie Fund by allowing children to converse with the doctors who are going to operate on them and help with rehabilitation from their surgery. Also, it shows on the Herbie Fund site that doctors who are employed at Sick Kids help contribute  because of the medical knowledge they have to operate on the children. This is a start for the Herbie Fund because they have Sick Kids as a partner which is known throughout the world but it does not mean that there should be only one stable contributor for the Herbie fund. Instead, there are contributors who come in during specific events the Herbie fund holds. It is important for companies, and people to contribute to the Herbie Fund on regular bases as it gives more opportunity for children to be accepted to have surgery.

These are some of the supporters that helped with the Walk for the Children

  1. Hey Jasmine & Julia,

The Herbie Foundation seems to be a really good organization that provides specialized medical care to young children when they don’t have access to these treatments and surgeries in their home country. I am glad to know that every child who is in need of medical care is always welcome and consider to be treated equally regardless of race, religion, geographic location and financial resources. I would like to know:
•What does the Herbie Fund cover for children who receive surgical treatment at SickKids?
•How many medical divisions are there at SickKids and what are they?

    Thanks!

You guys are doing great in advocating for this amazing organization. Keep up the good work.

For the first question you asked, for international patients they receive Medical Review – Quality of Care (consulting the the doctors about the surgery, and program plans after the surgery for the best outcome for the child); Family Support (language translation services, community resources); and Case Management ( internal and external communication, coordination of medical appointment(s)). For your second question, there are many medical division at SickKids were they treat children for different disorders and medical diseases. Here is a link to a list of the different divisions and areas of SickKids. http://www.sickkids.ca/AboutSickKids/Directory/Listings/A/A-Listing-Directory-Landing-Page.html

    Thanks for commenting
